BNCLT Hits CLT Conferences in Minneapolis and Los Angeles
This fall, BNCLT staff and board member Eric Boyd traveled to 2 CLT conferences collectively. In October, BNCLT staff flew to the Midwest CLT Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota to gather with our Greater Boston CLT peers and other CLTs across the country. These are meaningful moments for us, where we get to put our brains together with other practitioners, strengthen our technical skills, and spread the word about what we are learning and building in Boston.
Our staff particularly enjoyed learning about ways to support community-control in rental CLT housing — from designing leases that give residents more control, giving residents an option to purchase their units, including residents in asset-management, and supporting rent-to-own pathways. We were also deeply inspired by a tour led by Rondo CLT, which seeks to steward community-controlled residential and commercial space in a historically Black neighborhood of St. Paul that was fractured by a mid-20th century urban renewal project.
A month before in September, our resident board member Eric Boyd traveled to Los Angeles for the California CLT Network Conference, where he connected with other CLT residents and practitioners.
We are all looking forward to bringing our fresh perspectives and learnings into our work here at BNCLT.
