In addition please continue to reach out to your legislators. Please contact your senator and representative (look up here) to ask them to cosponsor one or both of the pending TOPA bills: H.1426, (filed by Representatives Livingstone and Consalvo); S.890 (filed by Senator Jehlen). The two bills are identical. Under the tab that says “Petitioners” you can read the list of names see who is already a Co-Sponsor (petitioner) of the bill.

We have been suffering a housing crisis for years. People are being forced from their homes and communities, displaced from neighborhoods where they have grown up and wish to remain. In the wake of the pandemic, we cannot repeat the loss of homes and wealth transfer that we saw happen in 2008. TOPA is critical now to address pandemic-triggered housing speculation and to help tenants stay in their homes for the long term.
