After a Year of Tenant Organizing, BNCLT Acquires 364 Harvard Street

It’s official! On July 1st, BNCLT acquired 364 Harvard Street. This was a huge accomplishment that leveraged every part of our anti-displacement toolbox. The two families living at 364 have been organizing with City Life / Vida Urbana for months to stay in their home, as their landlord had tried to sell the home for a price above the appraised market value and resisted several offers from BNCLT. During this period, the residents received multiple no-fault eviction notices. Finally, the landlord agreed to sell to BNCLT, and we reached the finish line on July 1st.

Today, this property is taken off the speculative market in-perpetuity, the residents have a permanently affordable home, and BNCLT welcomes two new housing justice activists and leaders into our resident community. We couldn’t be more thrilled. And we are so grateful to our amazing donors who helped make this happen.

364 Harvard Street residents celebrate acquisition with BNCLT’s Executive Director Meridith.

The day before we closed, we went to do a preliminary “hooray!” with the residents, with plans to officially celebrate with the many partners and community members who have been working so hard to make sure these residents could stay in their homes. Stay tuned for a celebration this fall!
